As the weather warms up here in New York so does the itch for fresh, new Spring clothing. With few hangers left to spare and that Spring wish list getting longer and longer, it’s time to start Spring cleaning.
Similarly, each season we clean out the closets here at Love, Leeann. Instead of marking down our items, we donate the merchandise to various charities and nonprofits. Helping other women is one of my passions, so this season we’re donating to Dress for Success.
The Spring cleaning purge can easily become very overwhelming. And questions like “Am I a hoarder?” or “What was I thinking?” can come up very quickly and frequently. Before you start questioning your mental stability, take a deep breath and follow these tips to keep you on track.
Spring cleaning tips:
Start in one spot. Either one closet, one dresser, one area.
Items you can easily get rid of:
- Anything with a rip, stain, hole or pilling.
- If you’ve put it on more than four times and immediately taken it off, say goodbye.
- The one wear items purchased in a rush for a specific event.
- Is the color still like new? If your black is now charcoal and your white is turning yellow, let it go.
Ask yourself: Does it fit and is it comfortable?
As you get rid of items, be sure to make two piles. One pile that is to be thrown out (any damaged items) and one pile to either donate or sell.
Now that your closets are feeling refreshed, and you have all those empty hangers, don’t forget about your essentials. Refreshing your closet is just as important as purging. You don’t want to go in your closet one day and realize you threw out all your black leggings!
Be sure to check out our essentials shop and refresh your wardrobe!
